Wind Advisory Continued through Tonight The winds of yesterday were certainly gusty but less so than earlier in the week, with winds maxing out in the mid 30mph range on the Valley floor. A full update list of the strongest wind gusts can be found here: The National Weather Service has extended the Wind Advisory until midnight tonight in anticipation of gusty afternoon and evening winds again today. Winds peaked yesterday in the evening hours, and looking ahead, today that pattern is likely to repeat. After hitting 97 yesterday, we expect a modest decrease in temps today, into the mid 90s which will last through the entire weekend.

Meteorologist Cam Tran forecasts for WESH 2 News at Noon and 4PM. Cam joined the First Alert Weather team in March 2021 after four years at WESH’s sister station WTAE in Pittsburgh, PA. Prior to Pittsburgh, Cam was the evening meteorologist at AccuWeather. Cam is no stranger to forecasting hurricanes and tropical weather, she spent several years as a meteorologist at KITV in Honolulu, HI. Before switching to weather full-time, she was a news anchor and reporter in Portland, ME and Abilene, TX. Cam earned a Certificate of Meteorology from Mississippi State University and a journalism degree from University of Texas.

The Memphis Office of Emergency Management says some sirens may activate today for maintenance purposes and not to be alarmed, at least early in the day. Some of the Outdoor Warning Sirens throughout Memphis may activate temporarily today for maintenance purposes. It’s quite warm out there today. Temperatures area wide are in the upper 50s to low 60s with winds out of the south at 10 to 20mph. For some, gusts are into the 20s and 30s. We’re looking at another very warm and windy day on tap! Highs this afternoon will soar into the low to mid 80s northeast meanwhile our west and southwestern counties will top out in the upper 80s to low 90s! Gusts today will be between 30-40mph with sustained winds out of the south at 15 to 25mph.
